SEMINAR – GLOBAL WARMING

A showcase event was organised in the school - an audio visual presentation by Prof. Dhrubajyoti Mukhopadhyay, a world renowned geoscientist, on the topic ‘Global warming – The Changing Environment’. The seminar was attended by the students of classes X, XI & XII, along with members of the Presidency Ex Students Association.

The main focus of the lecture was ‘changes in our climate and weather’ which is measured through various weather stations and digital floats. The rate of increase in temperature has also increased in the recent years, mainly due to human activities. In the future, tropical cyclones are predicted to increase in the Indian Ocean. To solve this problem Prof. Mukhopadhyay suggested organising more awareness programmes and better formulation of government environmental policies.

After the lecture an interactive session was organised where the students asked questions to the speaker and got answers to their queries. This was an enriching and enlightening experience for all present.
